Those Christian pretenders from the Westboro Baptist Church, led by "Reverend" Fred Phelps, have to answer to the higher-power of the American Judicial System. They took their hate-filled protests to the funeral of an American hero and the soldier's family sued. And, won.

"The jury first awarded $2.9 million in compensatory damages. It returned later in the afternoon with its decision to award $6 million in punitive damages for invasion of privacy and $2 million for causing emotional distress.

U.S. District Judge Richard Bennett noted the size of the award for compensating damages “far exceeds the net worth of the defendants,” according to financial statements filed with the court."

What more can I say? Those insane jerks deserve some "Hell on Earth" and their own special place in Hell.....

I'm not surprised to learn they are from Kansas. I, too, am from Kansas, and even though I went to church 3 times a week (the norm), I could hardly do anything else without getting "picketed". Going to a Motley Crue concert? My God, the city almost cancelled the concert, and when they did have it, I could barely get in because of the people with signs telling me I was going to hell. Over a CONCERT!!! John 3:16, John 3:16, John 3:16...that will FOREVER be embedded in my brain. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I hope other "hate in the name of God" groups will stand up and take notice of this ruling. Personally, I doubt THIS group will stop what they're doing, as they are "doing it in God's name" fervishly, but one can only hope.

I went to their website to see what in the world they were thinking, and found they were taking Bible verses out of context.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess...they're Republicans? ;)

So bizarre, it's as if Jerry Falwell lives on....
