Why A/H1N1 is Dangerous

My head is spinning from all the reporting that is being done about the newest flu threat. The talking points used range from "its mild" to "its a huge threat to mankind". Hell, it may be more of a threat to innocent pigs everywhere. What are we to believe?

I found this link to a science blog that makes some sense of the seriousness of the flu pandemic.

Money quote:

"Because there is no natural immunity to this virus, even though
clinically it appears to be like garden variety flu to the individual,
with respect to the population it has the potential to spread faster
and many more people sick than seasonal flu. And remember, seasonal flu
is not a walk in the park. It kills an estimated 30,000 people a year."

May I repeat it here "it has the potential to spread faster
and many more people sick than seasonal flu
". More sick = more folks missing work & more sick = more death.

Okay. I'm concerned.
